The Mindful Mover (https://www.facebook.com/MindfulMover/) is being run by Martina and Philip Chubb. They've been designing and programming my training for almost a year and it's been the best thing i've ever done for my training-regime. Before I get into the training and my experience it's worth mentioning, that i've been taking seminars and training under big brands/names such as Gymnasticbodies, The
Poliquin Group, Ido Portal, Yuval Ayalon, the Wim Hof-method, FitnessFAQs and more. I've been training within a bodyweight/gymna-stics paradigm for almost 8 years; researching and exploring different areas of "human movement" ranging from gymnastics to rock climbing, hand balancing, circus artistry, parkour, yoga, weight training, olympic lifting, breathing exercises, etc. I've always enjoyed the generalist approach, but the last year I decided to focus heavily on my bodyweight training - specifically skills such as the planche, one arm chin up, hollow back press, front lever, stalder press, etc.
I had already been following Martina and Philip for a long time before I started training with them. What made me contact them was their resume and the success achieved by their students. They've learnt from the best trainers in the world and they're not only very well educated within training and movement in general, but also diet, proper supplementation, getting quality sleep, biohacking, understanding our physiology and much more - and, they're willing to teach you as well.
The programming/training is highly individualised and designed based on your goals, worklife, abilities, physique and other factors that may impact your training. I personally train 6x strength sessions a week with incorporated mobility, hand balancing and deload sessions. One of the unique things about Martina and Philips approach, is that they integrate specific weight training exercises to your bodyweight regime resulting in incredible gains both from the perspective of strength and physique. Which strength skills have I personally attained under their guidance? 1. One Arm Chin Up (left arm, almost right) 2. Straddle Planche 3. Stalder Press and 4. Hollow Back Press (though not as clean yet) - I was able to do a one arm handstand before training with Martina and Philip, but i've added a significant amount of time to the duration of the hold. I've also increased the difficulty of my rock climbing routes (both bouldering and lead climbing). My body is also much better prepared for the uncertainty of parkour and circus artistry. Martina and Philip's mindset also differs from most other trainers. They're very excited for you to progress and they're always available for questions whether it's related to training, diet, supplements, etc. They will supply you with whatever tool you may need to reach your goals. Another aspect of their mindset is their sense of humor which is great. They're funny and very extrovert. They will cheer loudly when you've reached a milestone, which is a motivation booster beyond anything else. They will definitely correct you if you're doing an exercise wrong, but they'll do it in a detailed and calm matter (not the psuedo-alpha-male-tendency you often see in many trainers)
Overall: If you're intersted in gaining muscle mass, mobility, handbalancing skills or high level bodyweight skills, then the Mindful Mover is your go-to. I have learned more from them than any other trainer/institution when it comes to my training. They are a fountain of knowledge and they will help you reach your goal whatever it might be. I will happily continue with Martin and Philip for as long as I can and I would recommend their practice to anyone and everyone!
